WHY AI HASN'T WORKED FOR YOU

Why AI hasn't worked for you yet.

You opened ChatGPT and asked it to write a quote for a customer. What came back could have been sent by any company in the country. Wrong prices, wrong terms, none of your words. So you fixed it by hand, decided the tools were overrated and got on with your day.

Here is what actually happened. The AI had never been told a single thing about your business. It doesn't know what you charge, which customers always pay late, how your team answers a complaint or what last month's numbers looked like. Ask a new hire to write that quote on their first morning with no training and you'd get the same email back.

The missing piece is context. Your prices, your process, your customers and your records, written down and connected in one place the AI can read. Once that exists, the same tool you gave up on writes the quote with your prices and your terms already in it.

And then there's the advice. Most of what gets taught about AI is written for people who enjoy software: connect these eight apps, copy someone else's template, watch the whole thing break the first time your business changes. You need none of that to start. The first step is writing your own business down, and it costs nothing.

Chat with no control.

You ask, you get an answer, you retype the whole thing again tomorrow. Nothing you taught it survives the week.

Someone else's template.

A downloaded prompt or workflow was built around someone else's prices, customers and process. It will never fit yours.

Too many tools wired together.

Eight apps connected with nothing written underneath. It works in the demo and breaks the week you change how you invoice.

THE FIVE LEVELS

The five levels.

Every business using AI sits on one of five levels, and almost all of them sit on the first. The levels are climbed in order, because each one only works when the one below it is real. Read down and find yourself.

Chat

AI as a smarter Google. You ask a question, you get an answer and tomorrow you type all the same background in again.

How you know you're here: nothing you tell it persists.

Context

Your business written down so AI can read it. What you sell, what you charge, who buys from you, how your team works and what the numbers say.

How you know you're here: the answers come back sounding like someone who works there.

Skills

The jobs you repeat, written down once and run whenever you need them. The monthly report. The reply to a late payer. The product description.

How you know you're here: you'd hand the same instructions to a new hire and expect the job done properly.

Workflows

Skills joined up and put on a schedule, so the work finishes without you starting it.

How you know you're here: it ran while you slept.

The OS

Everything in one place you can see: what ran, what it produced, what needs you. You manage the machine instead of chasing the tasks.

How you know you're here: one screen shows you the whole business.

THE CONTEXT EQUATION

Context = Knowledge + Data

Knowledge is what your business knows, written down: your prices, your process, your standards, the way you talk to customers. Data is what your business records, connected: your sales, your invoices, your ad spend, your stock. If something is neither written down nor connected, your AI does not know it exists. Level two is where you fix that, and every level above it depends on you getting it right.

WHAT WE DO

How we can help.

Three ways in, depending on how far along you are. If you don't know where you sit yet, start with the audit and we'll tell you.

The AIOS Audit

We go department by department, interview the people doing the work and score every function against the five levels. You get a ranked list of what to fix first, with an RM value against each move so you can see what it's worth before you spend anything.

Workshops

A day with your team where they write down how their own jobs work and leave with AI doing two or three of them properly. They leave with working skills instead of notes.

WHO'S BEHIND IT

The person behind the method.

Sean Ng runs Oblique, a 21-person marketing agency in Kuala Lumpur, and it runs on this method. The proposals that closed over a million ringgit in new business were written by his own AI systems. Six internal apps and operating systems keep his companies moving, and 15 or so routines run every day whether he opens his laptop or not.

None of it started with a plan. It started with him writing his business down in a folder of notes, because he was tired of explaining the same context to a chat window every morning. The rest of it grew out of that folder.

He teaches this because it worked on a real business with payroll to meet, and he only teaches the parts he still uses.

QUESTIONS

The questions we get most.

No, and you never will. If you can explain your business to a new employee, you can do this. There is no code involved and no software to learn beyond typing in a chat window. The writing-down is the hard part, and that part needs you rather than an engineer.
